Solar Modules, these convert sunlight into DC voltage. Racking system, this supports the solar modules and can either be ground or roof mounted. Inverter, this converts the DC electricity to AC for use in your house.
The electricity that your system generates is firstly consumed by your own use, if your system generates excess than your use the difference is exported onto the national grid. For example if your system was generating 3000 watts and you turned on a 3kw kettle your existing household Kwh meter would be stationary and effectively your water would be boiled by Sunshine ! If your system was generating 1500 watts and you boiled the same kettle then your Kwh meter would only register half the amount that it would have registered before your Photovoltaic system was installed.

The majority of the work takes place on the roof which may require the erection of scaffolding for access. Wires will need to be installed between the roof to your inverter and the inverter and your fusebox, we pride ourself on completeing a neat job and will always discuss the routing of these cables beforehand. The PV system would not produce any power. The inverter constantly monitors the electrical supply and it will automatically disconnect from the grid should there be a power cut. This is to protect the grid engineers who may have to switch the power off, they would not take it too kindly if your system was still feeding electricity into the grid that believed to be dead!

Contrary to popular belief the British climate is highly suited to PV Systems ! In fact a 2Kwp system that we installed in August 2008 generated 2000 Kwh's in its first year of operation which was in excess of the predicted generation figure. We are able to produce a shade analysis report using the latest equipment and software. The report will indicate how much energy will be lost due to the shading and also what trees could be trimmed down to help reduce the shading. This service if free of charge and is included in our quotations if necessary. There are many options available to limit the effects of shading: multi string inverters with dual MPP tracking can split the array into sections so when one section is shaded the others are not affected and continue to give a good output : micro inverters are a mini inverter for each panel getting the absolute most out of each module.
